Advice and fast quotations for all your projects
The history of LZF is the fruit of chance. Indeed, in 1995 in Valencia (Spain), one day when its 2 creators, Marivi Calvo (Valencia, 1960) and Sandro Tothill (Brisbane, 1966), were manipulating scraps of wood on an illuminated table to make collages for their own home, they produced an incredible lighting effect. Applying light to the grain of the wood produced unique objects with unique shapes and lighting effects. It was then that the idea for the company was born, which first appeared under the name Luzifer.
Today, LZF has a factory with just over 20 employees, and the brand is present in every country in the world. Since 2001, it has been using Polywood, a new wood-based material for which it has filed a patent. Polywood enables wood to be used as a light diffuser.
LZF works with numerous designers, including Miguel Herranz (1997), who created the emblematic Hola, Margarita, Mikado and Anfora models, Ray Power (1998), who worked on the Alhambra, Link and Air lamps, Burkhard Damner, Oscar Cerezo, Bang Design and Luis Eslava.
LZF's raison d'vivre is the product, the material. Its trademark is not only to create lamps, beautiful luminous objects with soft, curved shapes, but also to create an incredible atmosphere thanks to the texture, quality and color of Polywood.
