Our lighting, design icons

These masterpieces of design have stood the test of time. Whether rare or reissued, these style icons influence new generations. An icon is an object which, in its time, has been presented at various events or shows, and has received numerous awards specifically singling it out as a "success" or an "innovation"... Or it may be an object that has made a lasting mark on its time.
The famous Pipistrello by Martinelli Luce, a true tribute to the Art Nouveau style of turn-of-the-century Europe, is a fine example. Its telescopic base and lampshade reminiscent of a bat's wings make it unique and cult.

Another example is the Birdy lamp collection. An icon of Scandinavian design, this collection is representative of the modernist period designed in 1952 by Norwegian designer Birger Dahl and reissued by Northern Lighting. Orientable, functional and highly elegant, it is a symbol of retro style.

Among the Italians, the Artemide and Nemo Lighting houses have seen the birth of many icons... the Nesso lamp by Giancarlo Mattioli and the Tolomeo collection by Michele de Lucchi at Artemide or the De Marseille collection by Charles le Corbusier at Nemo Ligthing.

We can also mention the now cult Miffy children's lamp; this table lamp designed by Mr Maria studio, inspired by the famous Miffy character, and created by Dutch cartoonist Dick Bruna, is an icon for both children and parents. Its soft air, round shape and almost opaline white color have won over all audiences, whether as a night-time companion or as a fun addition to any living room.
