Advice and fast quotations for all your projects
Paper can be worked up in many ways. For lamps, we have a preference for Japanese paper; better known as washi paper, it provides a soft filtered lighting. Very manageable and resistant as well as easy to work with, it’s a prime material for any decoration. Paper lamps like those from Céline Wright’s collections provide such a soft warm-toned light, ideal for a cozy atmosphere.
This French designer is indeed an expert when it comes to washi paper. Drawing a lot of inspiration from Japan where she lived for a period of time, she loves to bring together multiple origins and so proposes extremely poetic paper lights. The paper strips made of mulberry tree fibers let pass a muted light with a surprising accumulation of different reflections. The Precious lamps, the Envol floor lamp or even the Diva wall lights are quite emblematic.
Another paper style for lights is cardboard; it is sturdy, with an impressive thickness. Cardboard light fixtures are some of the most unusual objects, untreated of course and very decorative. The Seletti brand wanted to match their respect for the environment with modern styles, creating the Egg of Columbus collection made entirely of recycled cardboard. The Graypants brand opted for laser cut layer-upon-layer of cardboard, assembled by hand for their collections Drum, Ausi, Ohio. They emit a warm-toned light with numerous reflections due to the laser cutting process, quite surprising and efficient lighting for a room (even a public place) in a particularly cozy and dreamy fashion.
Finally, Proplamp pendant lights, like the Cloud, which even if they are made of an innovative plastic (and not of paper), show a very strong paper effect and offer a very sweet light.
