Steel is a chic material, sometimes a bit cold in nature, yet it is present in many rooms. It is often visible in an accompanying object of modern or elegant decoration as it is ideal for any interior done in a contemporary style.
A durable material indeed, quite capable of withstanding the worst atmospheric conditions, steel comes untreated, or with mat or satiny finishes. Steel is an integral element of numerous styles: vintage or industrial styles in a grey tint, contemporary or futuristic styles in minimally decorated rooms or spaces.
Certain lighting firms made a name for themselves with their industrial styles, in a large part due to the use of steel, such as Anglepoise and the Original 1227 lamps. Their British industrial appeal takes us back to the 30s, drawing inspiration from architectural design straight out of a factory.
