Advice and fast quotations for all your projects
Luminaires are classified according to NF C71-000 in order of electrical insulation; this standard protects people against the risk of electrocution, depending on the environment in which the luminaires are installed.
Indeed, there are dangers and risks involved in choosing a luminaire that is not suited to your environment. The main risks are fire, electrification and even electrocution. The protection index is an international standard, established by the International Electrotechnical Commission, relating to watertightness. The purpose of the IP protection index is to classify electrical equipment according to the level of protection it offers against the intrusion of foreign bodies, whether solid or liquid.
The first number "6" corresponds to total protection against dust. The second number "0" stands for protection against water jets from any direction (22.5 mm nozzle, 100 l/min). This category includes extremely safe luminaires, particularly suited to difficult, damp outdoor conditions... even up to totally submersible equipment under specified conditions. Of course, these luminaires can also be installed in bathrooms, like luminaires with a IP44. They can also be installed indoors, like fixtures with IP20, but then their level of protection is of little use.
For optimum rendering, opt for bulbs LED and if possible dimmimmable, to vary the light to suit your mood!
