Tornería Artística Brugarola was founded in 1949 in Sant Hilari Sacalm, a small town renowned for its wood crafts. Founded by the Brugarola family, this family-run business specializes in the production and sale of handcrafted wooden objects, ranging from souvenir gifts to decorations and small pieces of furniture. Their craftsmanship and passion for wood quickly established their reputation in the region.

In 1985, the second generation of the Brugarola family gave birth to MDC, a new company dedicated to the manufacture of decorative wooden lighting fixtures. With a focus on design and quality, MDC set itself apart by offering high-quality products at competitive prices. This transition marks a turning point for the family, enabling them to combine their artisanal expertise with modern innovation in lighting.

In 2002, MDC builds a new warehouse in Sant Hilari Sacalm, extending its structure to 14,000 m². This expansion enabled the company to meet growing demand and improve its logistical efficiency. In 2007, MDC took a further step forward with the creation of Mo Deng, a Chinese subsidiary located in Shunde, Foshan. This company, 100% owned by MDC (WFOE - Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise), includes a European production center in China of over 5,000 m² and employs 180 workers. This expansion strengthens MDC's production capacity and enables them to penetrate the Asian market.

In 2018, MDC takes a decisive shift towards internationalization, launching two distinct catalog lines to offer maximum solutions for all levels of consumers. This strategic move aims to meet the varied needs of an increasingly demanding global customer base. In 2020, MDC takes on a new challenge by adding fans to its product range. Models such as the Pisa and Mistra become hits of the year, testifying to the company's ability to innovate and diversify while maintaining a high level of quality.
