Our lighting, from MDC

In 1949, Tornería Artística Brugarola was founded in Sant Hilari Sacalm, a small town renowned for its woodcraft. Founded by the Brugarola family, this family-owned business specialized in the production and sale of handcrafted wooden items, ranging from souvenirs to decorative pieces and small furniture. Their artisanal expertise and passion for wood quickly established their reputation in the region.

In 1985, the second generation of the Brugarola family launched MDC, a new company dedicated to the manufacture of decorative wooden lighting fixtures. With a particular focus on design and quality, MDC distinguished itself by offering high-quality products at competitive prices. This transition marked a turning point for the family, allowing them to combine their artisanal expertise with modern innovation in the field of lighting.

In 2002, MDC built a new warehouse in Sant Hilari Sacalm, expanding its facilities to 14,000 m². This expansion enabled the company to meet growing demand and improve its logistical efficiency. In 2007, MDC took another step forward by establishing Mo Deng, a subsidiary in Shunde, Foshan, China. This company, wholly owned by MDC (WFOE—Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise), includes a European production center in China covering more than 5,000 m² and employs 180 workers. This expansion strengthened MDC’s production capacity and enabled the company to enter the Asian market.

In 2018, MDC took a decisive step toward internationalization by launching two distinct product lines to offer a wide range of solutions to consumers at all levels. This strategic move aims to meet the diverse needs of an increasingly demanding global customer base. In 2020, MDC took on a new challenge by adding fans to its product line. Models such as the Pisa and the Mistra became hits that year, demonstrating the company’s ability to innovate and diversify while maintaining a high standard of quality.

MDC focuses its efforts on the dedication of its team to the manufacture of lighting products. The emphasis is on design and innovation, functionality, sustainability, quality, and cost. Thanks to complete control over the entire production process, the company is able to offer creative solutions tailored to every need. Its mission is to continue offering exceptional products that combine traditional craftsmanship with technological innovation, thereby meeting the expectations of customers around the world.
