In a bedroom (often situated close to an office space), a warm and cozy atmosphere is preferable and is created with the help of several light sources. The main source is generally a pendant lamp providing direct light, accompanied by several indirect lights such as wall lamps that can also serve as reading lights and replace the need of a night stand light.
Be sure not to drown the bedroom in light, rather favor soft light that is not too subdued, just enough to maintain the desired warmth and coziness. Keeping the intensity at the right measure is the job of the dimmer, which can help to facet the ambient effects. Stay away from light bulbs that are too white or too cold, best at 2500k – 3000k.
Night stands need soft filtered light so as not to be too intense. The night table and lamps should be at the level of the top of the bed so as be properly positioned for your eyes. It is recommended that you avoid opaque light shades and choose cylindrical shapes for the best dispersion of the light into the room. The Monte&Baisse wall lights by Daniel Gallo are ideal substitutes for night stand lamps.
Floor lamps are well-suited to bedrooms since they provide lots of light at a higher level but be sure to equip the lamp with a large lamp shade so as to send the light up and down but not laterally.
We do not recommend ceiling spotlights which are more suited to the interior of a closet or dressing rooms.
