The British company Anglepoise needs no introduction! Its timeless, industrial 1930s style has made the original model a design icon the world over.

It was in his garage workshop in the early 1930s that automotive engineer George Carwardine conceived the first lines of the Anglepoise work lamp. Quickly adopted in homes, it became an iconic object, recognized for its expressive silhouette and precise, elegant engineering. From the outset, the founding Terry family has guarded the brand's heritage with dedication and passion. Today, led by the fifth generation with Simon Terry, Anglepoise stands the test of time as its lamps are handed down from hand to hand, generation after generation.

Perfectly suited to machining work in the workshop, the Anglepoise lamp was originally adopted by industry, particularly the automotive sector, for its practicality. The design icon first arrived in France thanks to luxury leather goods manufacturer Emile Hermès, who integrated it into his workshops. Craftsmen quickly personalized the lamp by sheathing it in leather, as they were wont to do with their tools to protect them. In the 50s, the director of the time fell in love with the lamp and offered it to his customers. It was then that the little industrial lamp entered the world of luxury!

Since then, the success of the famous architect's lamp has never stopped. The range has expanded over the years, with different colors and finishes, as well as different models, such as floor lamps, wall lamps, hanging lamps...

While the Original 1227™ model retains its design unchanged since its creation, the modern Type 75™ and Type 80™ lines, signed Sir Kenneth Grange, revisit the emblematic shape by going for the essentials: balance, function, sobriety.
