The Galula design studio was founded by two Portuguese designers, Filipa Mendes and Gustavo Macedo, in 2011. After designing products for their friends and themselves, they decided to create the Galula studio.

They joined forces to breathe new life into functional objects. They want to prove that functional design can have a playful and offbeat spirit—or, in other words, how to infuse everyday objects with a sense of joy!

In Portuguese, “Galula” means something delicious. Galula’s mission is to bring smiles and joy to as many people as possible. According to their motto, you have to be “Fun-ction.”

The young brand had the honor of receiving the “Design Award” in 2014 for the Glint lamp.

All products are designed and manufactured in Portugal, almost exclusively using cork, as cork production is one of Portugal’s specialties.
