The British brand Sowden was founded by George Sowden in 2010.

This designer has a personal interest in working with artisanal organizations and small-scale manufacturers. Based in Milan, George Sowden has collaborated with major companies such as Olivetti, Tefal, Pyrex, Memphis, and Moulinex, and has won numerous design awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro Award.

In 2010, Sowden introduced a variety of kitchen items, including the famous SoftBrew, a one-of-a-kind coffee maker.

Ten years later, Sowden Light, the brand’s latest extension, introduced SHADES, a collection of lamps with multiple configuration possibilities, ranging from pendant lights, table lamps, and floor lamps to wireless lamps. The idea took shape during a project in which the designer discovered the ability and potential of silicone to diffuse light. This material sets the lamps apart, with colors and proportions that cast a soft, comfortable glow.
