Our lighting, from Studio Gazelles Editions

Since we’re going to be talking about space and materials, let’s start with the human element! This is the story of a friendly encounter on the benches of the École Bleue. These two supposed opposites actually share a few things in common: first and foremost, a passion for designing living spaces and working with fine materials, which they spend their entire day designing. But they’re also two strong-willed blondes, both natural leaders, determined to shatter stereotypes!

Their early years in the profession also reveal their true colors: after a rewarding experience at the firm 5-cinq architecte, Anastasia launched her first firm, Madame architecte, in 2016, while Mélanie continued her studies at the École Spéciale d’Architecture and founded ALT-C Archi in 2014.

A few years later, while working on a renovation project for mutual friends, the two workaholics reunited and launched Le Studio Gazelles, specializing in interior design, in 2017. Why “Gazelles”? Because it takes stamina and flair to launch a women-led architecture studio focused on sustainability, ethical practices, and respect for artisanal craftsmanship.

Success was immediate, and commissions came one after another: numerous renovated apartments, bar concepts, flexible office spaces with greenery, and large-scale redesigns, such as the legendary Rex Club hall in Paris and the 4-star Hotel Le Relais Saint Jean. The property’s existing structure plays a major role; they analyze the space’s potential. While preserving the building’s exterior, they take the project and turn it on its head. Their signature style is reflected in ergonomic, functional, and custom-designed spaces.

Both poetic and contemporary, their hallmark is the enhancement of spaces through an almost sculptural use of light. Building on its reputation and always eager for new adventures, Studio Gazelles is launching its
first furniture line this year with Studio Gazelles Éditions: design pieces they create and have produced in France by local artisans.
