Fabric is an "old-fashioned" material with a wide range of finishes: canvas, linen and others. This easy-to-use material is quite customizable; it can be sewn or folded to create a multitude of shapes and visual aspects. Its finish creates soft, filtered lighting, ideal for a warm, subdued ambience. Fabric fixtures don't dazzle; they filter light. The German company Fraumaier offers many creations with textile shades; the cloth floor lamps Slimsophie and Fatsophie with ultra-colorful shades are an excellent and cheerful lighting solution. Fabric lighting fixtures find their perfect place in a bedroom or living room. Fabric lets you dress up a fixture, whether printed, floral or striped, with fresh or funky colors. Fabric also has a different feel depending on its finish. Velvet, for example, is renowned for its softness to the touch, while polyester, a widely-used material thanks to its resistance to light, does not have the same feel.
