Our lighting, from Mr Maria

The story of Mr. Maria began in 2006, when two Dutch designers, Jannes Hak and Lennart Bosker, decided to design lamps that “change the world.” As they put it themselves: “We don’t make products; we light up stars.” Their goal is indeed to create designs that inspire wonder and curiosity in children and bring a smile to adults’ faces.

They have thus designed lamps made from translucent plastic. With their childlike spirit, and plenty of humor and poetry, they bring to life comforting and benevolent creatures with a modern design. The Miffy lamp (named after the famous character created by Dick Bruna) is the children’s room lamp that brought them to prominence in 2010.

Mr. Maria is constantly developing new products for children’s room decor. Their latest creation, The Little Prince, will bring a warm and comforting light to children’s rooms and will also serve as a beautiful decorative piece.

Note: But what is Miffy’s story? It begins on June 21, 1955. It was raining in Utrecht, a city in the Netherlands where the young designer Dick Bruna lived with his son. Stuck at home because of the bad weather and feeling a little bored, Bruna decided to tell his son a story—the story of a little rabbit (inspired by his stuffed animal) that he had met during a vacation in the dunes of Egmond aan Zee.
The lovely story of Miffy was born that day... This little bunny went on to become the heroine of numerous books and cartoons.
