The Mr Maria studio was inspired by the famous Miffy character, created by Dutch cartoonist Dick Bruna. The character's name comes from the Dutch: Nijntje, or Konijntje, meaning: little rabbit. This fictional little rabbit, created in 1955, can be seen in a series of some thirty children's books.

The original Miffy rabbit lamp is a designer table lamp suitable for both children's bedrooms and contemporary adult interiors.
