In 1960, Artemide was born from the meeting of engineering and design.

Founded by aeronautical engineer Ernesto Gismondi and designer Sergio Mazza in the Milan region of Italy, Artemide has become one of the leading names in the lighting sector. The company offers bold, timeless lighting fixtures for public spaces, communities, offices and homes. At the crossroads of industrial design and tradition, the brand is guided by its motto "The Human Light", according to which the design of lighting equipment must respond to human needs and be based above all on human well-being throughout the various stages and situations of life.

Inheriting Italian know-how, Artemide has revolutionized the way light is conceived, through research, innovation, technology and exacting standards. Every year, the company registers several patents and has been awarded numerous prizes in the world of design and decoration since the 1960s, including the Compas d'Or for lifetime achievement in 1994 and the European Design Price in 1997.

Today, with a worldwide presence, it continues to collaborate with leading designers such as Gae Aulenti, Herzog & De Meuron, Zaha Hadid and Ora Ito... Allowing them to express their singularity through the mastery of materials and styles: glass, metal and steel, wood and polymers with retro, industrial, futuristic, aerial looks...

From the avant-garde Eclisse table lamp by designer Vico Magistretti to the iconic Tolomeo by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, both of which were awarded the Compas d'Or prize in 1967 and 1989, Artemide's creations are recognized as symbols of design and are even exhibited in museums.

Today, Artemide continues to push innovation, and at Euroluce 2017 in Milan presented its vision of connected light. By equipping all its lamps with a Wi-Fi system and developing its own app for tablets and smartphones, it enables everyone to control all their lighting remotely.
