Naoto Fukasawa, the Japanese designer was born in Yamanashi in 1956. He is gratuated from the Tama Art University. He went to the United States in 1989, when the Silicon Valley has a big growth thanks to new IT technology.
Then, in 1996, he went to Japan to lead IDEO in Tokyo and he creates his design agency, named Naoto Fukasawa Design in 2003. For Naoto, the design product is «without thought» and «Design dissolving in behavior». He thinks that simpleness in design as a way to achieve completeness and harmonious relationship between users, objects and environments as a purpose for design.
Its agency is known around the world and Naoto win many prizes whose Honorable Royal Designer for Industry in 2007.
He is also one of the directors of 21_21 Design Site, as well as acting on the design advisory board of MUJI, acts as the chairman for « GOOD DESIGN AWARD », is a professor at Musashino Art University.
For the lighting design, Naoto is the creator of Demetra modern lamps for the Artemide Italian lighting house.
