Our lighting, from SkLO Studio

The Czech brand SkLO Studio was founded in 2009 by the designer couple Paul Pavlak and Karen Gilbert. In Czech, “SkLO” means “glass.” The brand name is therefore very telling and perfectly aligned with the products it offers. Indeed, at the heart of all SkLO collections—as well as all the work that goes into them—is hand-blown Czech glass. SkLO Design Studio creates both lighting fixtures and decorative objects.

The philosophy of SkLO Design Studio is craftsmanship. Karen Gilbert aims to celebrate craftsmanship without neglecting design. For while craftsmanship focuses on technique and form, design focuses on the process and materials. As a result, all of the studio’s creations are entirely handmade. Each light fixture is unique and features details specific to its creation.

For Paul Pavlak and Karen Gilbert, creating light fixtures is the ideal way to express the intersection of beauty and function. The products in the Light collection are individually crafted from solid brass and hand-blown Czech glass. They strike a balance between refined simplicity and the organic nature of their materials. Beyond lighting, the Object collection features accessories, tableware, sculptures, and wall pieces made of hand-blown Czech glass. Finally, the Project collection focuses on custom work (lighting, installations, sculptures, etc.).
