DUPLEX DELORME - CELINE PANSIERI
An atypical space tucked away in lower Montreuil, this mini-duplex already had a number of assets. Located on the first floor of a block of flats, it was fitted with a large glass roof that provides a beautiful through-illumination (both on the inner courtyard and on the street). Its volume also enabled the creation of a "box-room", allowing the use of two levels, so that the ground floor could be devoted solely to living areas. The kitchen, bathroom, dining room and living room are arranged in a row.
My mission in this project was to re-establish the spaces, essentially the dining room and living room. The previous occupants had opted to have the dining room in the kitchen, leaving them with two living areas. This is clearly shown in the "before and after" report. Initially, a general refurbishment was designed and implemented. The parquet flooring was changed (oiled semi-massive oak), the plumbing and electrical systems were completely redone, and custom-made fittings were added.
The "before-and-after" report shows just how well this was done. Once the spaces were better defined, the kitchen had to be completely redesigned, both in terms of layout (including the creation of a worktop bar) and aesthetics. Here, powdery notes predominate. Terrazzo on the floor, zelliges on the wall, a white kitchen without handles and oak joinery were the main ingredients of this renaissance. Next, the most arduous task was to redesign the tiny shower room and wc. Then came the decorating phase, with bold choices made in concert with my client, who in many cases didn't hesitate to trust me, even if I sometimes made rather radical proposals (terrazzo, "wet system" wallpaper in the shower room, forest green in the toilets and finally Farrow & Ball Bancha green on the huge walls of the dining room and living room so that they echo each other.
). In the end, after a few setbacks with the plumbing, this project lived up to our expectations. The containment proved and validated it. A breeze floats through the air of this charming home, as gentle as its owner.
