LA CABANE DU LAC - STUDIO PEPITES
One of our agency's most enjoyable projects, in the heart of a preserved and inspiring environment. It's not always easy to find the right aesthetic focus when renovating a house, and Lacanau and its atmosphere guided our first steps in this project.
Thanks to a precise kick-off meeting and the aesthetic freedom given to us by our client, we were able to express great creativity. Once the work was completed, the Mediterranean spirit that we wanted to bring to the project was evident. The environment is guided by curves, and the custom bathroom door gives the feeling of being in a wooden boat cabin.
More used as a storage area than a living room since its acquisition, this space in the heart of nature was just begging for a complete renovation. A complete design process was carried out before we submitted our proposal, involving the use of light, colors and materials. The interior layout plays with existing forms.
The room's imposing curves are created by the fact that the concrete bases of this wooden house, built several decades ago, are poured directly into the ground. Our primary mission was to respect the history of the place and its environment, while imagining and creating a new atmosphere and interior layout.
In the interests of economy and preserving the original good ideas, we kept this large mirror, which maximizes the room's brightness, while being as if transported outside.
A new creation on the right-hand side, the waxed concrete bench seat follows the curves of the structural concrete studs, treated with the same coating. At the rear, you can see the new mezzanine and children's area, ready to welcome the youngest members of the family for the first time.
