Secto Design crossed paths with designer Seppo Koho in 1995 when Tuula Jusélius was seeking a designer for her new company, which was producing furniture made of innovative glue-laminated wood. The very first time she met the newly graduated design architect Seppo Koho, they knew they were kindred spirits. The two share a respect for Northern wood as well as Scandinavian, simplistic design and professional woodworking. Customers who bought furniture from the company complained about not finding suitable lamps to go with the furniture. Tuula Jusélius noticed the same; there simply were no wooden lamps on the market. So Seppo Koho was commissioned and the result was the Secto pendant lamp that is still the backbone of the collection. Preserving the environment is a very dear value for this Finnish company, whether applied to the choice of materials or the recycling of others. The wood is worked up for their products locally and the scraps are used for heating or are given to woodworking schools. Low-energy lightbulbs, water soluble inks, recycled paper and only e-mailings are allowed. This design brand is ecologically friendly, timeless and a good value.
