Zero

Made in Sweden, the family company Zero manufactures and sells attractive lighting for all types of settings relying on up-to-date technology and a network of designers who are innovative problem solvers. More than 80 percent of their subcontractors are located nearby the factory. This is both environmentally sound and offers great flexibility when it comes to varying and modifying projects. Innovation, quality, attraction and durability are the underlying motto since their beginnings in 1978. Imagine a barren winter landscape in deepest Scandinavia, the darkness when the clouds cover the moonlight, the glitter of snow and all the magic this generates. That’s what they try to capture at Zero, just as much as the opposite — the soft sheen of Nordic summer light. Light reflections, the obscurity and the shadows in the environment are all elements of inspiration for the unique Zero range of lights. They are located in Pukeberg, outside Nybro, the hub of Swedish glass production. Started in 1978, the founders were producing glass back then but later switched over to perforated sheet metal fittings. Designer Börge Lindau was clearly decided that this very sheet metal would contribute to Zero’s being recognised as a modern, innovative and forward-looking company…and how right he was. Expansion occurred, and from its original garage, the company moved to an industrial zone in central Nybro and a successful collaboration ensued with the designer Per Sundstedt, who preferred to design glass fittings. The years passed, and in 2005, a whole new period began in Zero’s history. They started collaborating with the most recognised Swedish designers of the day, such as Mattias Ståhlbom, Thomas Bernstrand, Fredrik Mattson and Front. Today, Zero is an internationally well-established company with designers from near and far. They have mastered several different materials which they match with the latest technologies. The unexpected and unique are still at the forefront of everything they produce.
