Designer

Guglielmo Poletti is an Italian designer whose work can often be compared to a metaphor for complexity.

Adept at working with materials and deconstruction, his style is characterized by an apparent simplicity. Indeed, we can note a research on the fundamental elements of a product, which results in clean lines that go to the essentials. Without forgetting aesthetics, they combine functionality and design to go beyond mere perception.

His creations are not part of a visual continuity but of an in-depth research into the structure of the object and the absence of superfluous ones.

His work revolves around an experimental approach in which intuition guides his progress.

In 2006, after graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven, he opened his own studio. Personal creations, orders and partnerships, these are the projects to which the studio responds. Thanks to his work, Guglielmo Poletti is notably present at the Design Museum Gent through his Equilibrium stool and has received numerous awards such as the Italian Rising Talent Award in 2018.

Today, he continues to vary the products he presents and continues in the world of lighting with a partnership with the Italian publishing house Flos.

"Nine times out of ten my intuition doesn't take me where I thought it would. It's always interesting and once you start to trust the process, you can't go back."
