Jakob Timpe was born in Würzburg, Germany in 1967. He studied at the Universities of Berlin and Darmstadt, graduating in Architecture and then trained in various cities such as Leipzig, Munich, Cologne and Barcelona.
From 1999 to 2004, he taught in the Faculty of Architecture at TU Darmstadt. In 2006, he opened his own studio jts+o in Berlin. Since 1999, he has designed open spaces, lighting and furniture, both indoor and outdoor, for a range of European companies.
Among his studio's clients are institutions and manufacturers such as Alias, Goethe-Institut, Magis, Marset, Nils Holger Moormann, Resol, Serien.Lighting and GTZ/European Commission.
