James Bartlett studied at Manchester Metropolitan and joined Innermost in 2008 at the London studio, later accepting the position of Design Manager in Hong Kong. His design is characterised by his interest in materials and processes; he enjoys being in the workshop to participate in every stage of production. His Portland lamps are a great example. What began as a project to experiment with cast concrete developed into a superbly robust lamp, brilliantly contrasting the milky smooth purity of plaster and the rough cast of concrete.
