Léontine Furcy, a self-taught French sculptor, has been exploring the mystery of matter and beings ever since she left the world of merchandise after studying law and communications. Her career path led her from fashion design and stage direction to the creation of sets for the audiovisual industry, before she discovered stoneware, a decisive moment in her artistic development.

Inspired by her graphic designer mother, who created everything by hand, Léontine expresses her sensitivity through gestures sketched in her sketchbooks. She seeks out shapes and gestures deeply rooted in sensibility, which she carefully transposes onto chamotte clay slabs to preserve their lightness and natural movement.

Léontine's creations, numbered according to their year and position in the series, form a "TRIBU". These singular sculptures, often inspired by pre-verbal emotions, take names from the repertoire of real or imaginary beings. They associate, group together, revealing invisible links while resisting separation, seeking to populate a void, perhaps that of a world in decline, but also that of a language emptied of meaning, which Léontine Furcy strives to rediscover.

At Nedgis, you'll find her sculptures in the form of unique, original lighting fixtures.
