Luc Ramael graduated in 1975 as an interior architect at the “Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Bouwkunst en Stedenbouw” in Antwerp, Belgium. After specialised studies in furniture design and photography, he worked for several architects and interior designers, finally establishing his own studio in 1988 . Since 1984, he has been teaching at several architecture schools in Belgium and assumes the job of external examiner or jury member, notably for the prestigious Interieur 2000 design competition in Kortrijk. He designs intimate furniture and lighting objects, without anecdotal humour or exaggerated experimenting. Logic and good taste give rise to useful and familiar objects, always without unnecessary frills. Luc Ramael has been collaborating with lighting and furniture companies in Belgium, in Italy with Martinelli Luce and in Spain, and has won several national and international prizes in furniture and lighting competitions.
