Paolo Zani was born in 1960 in Italy. He trained at the renowned ISIA - Istituto Superiore Industrie Artistiche, Faenza and later at the Domus Academy in Milan. Paolo Zani Design Studio is a multidisciplinary design office established in 1992, whose works range from the design of objects to technological products, interior and graphic design. He considers his design activity as the optimistic expression, motivated by synthesizing new applications of materials and technologies into the design of mass-market products, as well as handcrafted products and spaces. He also collaborated in developing office seating (Artifort and Steelcase Strafor), light fittings (Lumiance), home appliances (SanGiorgio), writing instruments, watches and leather accessories (Mont Blanc). From 2001 to 2012 he was the art director of Cierre Accessories, manufacturer of home and kitchen accessories. For FontanaArte, he designed the A tomic pendant light in 2003 and the wall light Riga in 1995, now also available in outdoor versions.
