Born in the UK in Henley, Simon Pengelly studied at Kingston Polytechnic and Rycotewood University. At the age of eight, Simon was working in his father's workshop making furniture. It was after graduation that he decided to start his career as a designer for the Conran Design Group.

In 1990, the Englishman set up his own design studio in London: Studio Pengelly. This studio produces designs for major English, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and American publishing houses. His design has a homogeneous mix of engineering, clean design and a timeless soul.

A few years later, he won the "Compasso d'Oro", a highly prized award in the world of designers! Afterwards, he found the opportunity to work on numerous projects in the fields of product design, transport and interior design with lightings. In particular, he designed the Innerlight lighting for the Italian company Foscarini: "a luminous wall sculpture adapted to both private interiors and collective contexts".
