John Cullen, a visionary pioneer of lighting design, has left an indelible mark on the world of lighting. His career as a lighting designer for BBC productions provided fertile ground for his fascination with the nuances of light. Driven by this passion, he co-founded John Cullen in 1981. In tandem with lighting designer Sally Storey, they laid the foundations of the John Cullen philosophy: to create pure luminaires capable of inspiring effects.
The first showroom, the fruit of Sally Storey's creativity, opened in 1982 in Smith Street, London, marking the beginning of instant recognition for John Cullen's unique approach. Following John's death, Sally assumed the role of Creative Director, carrying on the legacy of innovation and inspiration through light. From humble beginnings in Chelsea, the publishing studio has evolved into an international team, with offices in London, Dubai, Paris and Mumbai, collaborating on projects that transcend geographical boundaries.
