String Light (spherical shade, 12-metre cable, wall/ceiling rose) is a suspension lamp designed in 2014 by Michael Anastassiades for the Italian company Flos.

String Light is composed of a spherical lampshade, a 12-meter cable and a rosette. Minimal and poetic, like a pencil line drawn in space, String Light is an original luminaire, both conceptually simple and daring. With his creations leaning towards abstraction, in a quest for purity and simplicity, designer Michael Anastassiades takes his inspiration here from the electrical cables running through a train window, linking pylons and dividing the landscape. Transposed here into interior architecture, a thin black electrical wire completes the interior environment, separating the space into an infinite number of configurations, regardless of the position of the electricity source.

String Light illuminates with diffused light. Its body is made of die-cast aluminum painted matt black and finished with a soft-touch clear varnish, equipped with an oval polycarbonate optical diffuser and a 12-meter suspension system with Kevlar-reinforced coaxial cable. The luminaire comes with a black polycarbonate rosette for wall/ceiling attachment. An electronic on/off switch with optical mechanism is located on the cable, just above the lampshade. On/off management and dimming is controlled by a remote app available on Android and Apple.
