JOFFRE - LUDILY

Architect: LUDILY

Location : NIce

This former lawyer's office in the carré d'or district, which had fallen into disrepair, was in need of some attention. Our intervention involved a complete reorganization to create a family apartment with a clean, contemplative decor that appealed to all our senses. Our aim was to enhance the building's classic architectural elements, adding a minimalist, soothing atmosphere. In very poor condition, a major structural renovation was required, including the entire floor, underpinning, and the creation of water points and drains.

The living spaces were cleverly organized to create multiple perspectives. The large entrance hall has been reduced in size, in favor of a singular, timeless toilet lined with flowers and a partition nose acting as a border with the large living room. The large entrance cupboard containing the laundry room was made of walnut wood by our skilled carpenters. The floor is bordered by Carrara white terrazzo and fine brass strips.

The large living room is now the heart of the apartment. To achieve this, we had to combine four rooms and a corridor to create a triple living room, comprising kitchen, dining room and lounge. The kitchen was organized around a large island combining Taj Mahal quartzite and walnut wood. In the majestic dining room, the marble fireplace has been replaced by a curved wall and a window that illuminates the space. In the living room, an alcove has been created behind the sofa to accommodate a bookcase. The entire space is laid on a 38° Hongris oak parquet specially made for this apartment. Our staff craftsmen created all the apartment's cornices and picture rails with great detail, enhancing the bourgeois look.

A little further away, the children's bedroom incorporates a bunk bed in the alcove lined with playful nature, where squirrels have a field day in a game of wild hide-and-seek. To enter the master suite, you must first walk along the shower, which is boldly designed with bottle-green zellige tiling and a black shower tray. The oak dressing room separates the bedroom from the shower. The office has taken the place of the former filing cabinet, and the Chinese Tea green covering the walls and ceiling contrasts with the leafy wallpaper to immerse you in this gentle interlude.
