THE TOWER

Interior design: Camille Hermand Architectures

Lighting design: Nedgis

Location: Paris

Opening onto a flower-filled courtyard, the apartment forms a perfect rectangle, with an entrance hall leading to a kitchen and living room, and a bedroom and bathroom down the hall. While there was nothing to revise in the layout, the whole was old-fashioned and unimaginative.

The architect opened up the kitchen to the living room with a classic glass roof. The space taken up by the dining room is well managed, thanks to a bench seat that takes up less space than a row of chairs. In the bedroom, custom-made closets frame the bed. The kitchen layout favors low cabinets to allow a view of shelves through the skylight.

In terms of color, a play of contrasts punctuates the apartment. The entrance is deliberately treated in an elegant, theatrical dark blue, to better emphasize the luminosity of the other rooms. In the living room, bedroom and bathrooms, a black border emphasizes the colored base. The process introduces vanishing lines, creating a sense of lightness throughout the apartment.

The final touch, the headboard is topped with a floral wallpaper. With a few well-coordinated gestures, this apartment has found warmth and personality.
