BIARRITZ OR LIFE IN BLUE. Total renovation of a vacation apartment, Biarritz, 100 m2.
Located in a listed building in the mythical Palais district, right in the heart of Biarritz, these maids' rooms formed a motley ensemble in a totally neo-Basque style.
Our customers' first request was to be able to see the sea from their living room and bedroom. To achieve this, we enlarged the windows. A complex operation carried out in conjunction with Biarritz town council.
The second request was to create three bedrooms, including a master suite and two large shower rooms.Last but not least, the challenge was to find a location for an open-plan kitchen.
We met all these specifications. Probably the most complicated part was designing the kitchen between the beams, which we couldn't and didn't want to touch. These were entirely sanded by hand to preserve the rustic nature of the wood.
In the end, we designed a vacation apartment that's bright, cheerful and easy to live with in both winter and summer, in which different shades of blue run like a red thread through the decor.
