Jasper Startup was born in London in 1961. After graduating in furniture design from the University of Middlesex, he graduated in 1994 with a master's degree in industrial design from the St. Martins College of Art and Design in London.
Since 1983, he has been designing freelance products for a number of clients, both private and corporate. He also gave lectures on design in the main institutions of the United Kingdom.
For Gervasoni, he designed the fans "Wind" (1997) and the "Bell" lamp (1999) in natural rattan.
He is currently dividing his time between the design of furniture and fixtures for various British manufacturers and on the other side teaching at the University of Kingston and the St. Martins Central College.
His work has been exhibited and documented worldwide, most recently through his participation in the Milan Furniture Fair and The Eco Design Handbook.
