Manufacture Saint-Louis

Nationality
French
Occupation
Crystal factory

The prestigious Saint-Louis House was founded in 1586 in the valley of Müntzthal in Moselle. This French crystal factory produces creations in various fields: decoration, tableware, lighting and furniture. It is the oldest crystal factory in France.

Historically, the "Glassworks of Müntzthal" becomes in 1767 "Royal Glassworks" by letters patent of King Louis XV and becomes Saint-Louis. It was then renamed Cristallerie royale de Saint-Louis and from 1829 it was dedicated solely to the production of crystal. In particular, it introduced the notion of glassware service for the table with the famous Trianon model.

Every day, the manufacture signs mouth-blown crystal pieces, cut and decorated by hand by the craftsmen of the crystal factory. These are master glassmakers and master cutters who are among the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France.

Saint-Louis is a factory that today knows how to mix tradition and innovation and has never ceased to draw its inspiration from contemporary artistic trends to build and renew its identity.

Since 1995, Saint-Louis has belonged to the Hermès Group. To this day, the Manufacture remains the sole manufacturing site for Saint-Louis crystal pieces. Its workshops can be visited in addition to its museum.
