Exuberant personality, unique style, Philippe Starck is not the most famous French designer in the world for nothing. Born in Paris in 1949 and having attended the Nissim de Camondo school for a while, he is mainly self-taught and proud of it.
Starck's specialty is that he doesn't have one! At a very young age, he was inspired by industrial design with his father, an aeronautical engineer and designer. He designed projects ranging from lighting fixtures to the design of everyday products, including the design of numerous nautical devices, including Steve Jobs' famous yacht. Since the beginning, he claims to want to make design accessible to all, he says he is the Robin Hood of the capitalist industry.
He has created very famous and now cult lighting fixtures such as the Guns collection, designed in 2005, a real political commitment, denouncing the violence of the Gulf Wars and particularly the war in Iraq.
