Wall light, PH 2/1, white, chrome, L29,6cm, H16,5cm - Louis Poulsen

This is the PH 2/1 wall light, designed by Paul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen.

Made in the winter of 1925-26 for a large exhibition hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, called "Forum", Poul Henningsen says of this new luminaire: "The real innovation of the PH luminaire is that it produces glare-free as well as economical lighting. It's easy enough to create glare-free lighting if a portion of the light can be wasted, and it's also easy to make luminaires that are very efficient if you ignore the fact that they are very irritating to the eyes, but achieving both economical and glare-free lighting is an art.

This sconce is composed of a set of reflective shades, which directs the light downward.
Each shade is composed of three layers of opal glass, polished on the outside and sandblasted on the inside. This work of glass allows to emit a soft and diffuse light.
