LE GRAND PALAIS - LUDILY

Architect: LUDILY

Lighting: Nedgis

Location: Nice

The main objective of this project was to completely reorganize the spaces, infusing them with a refined, poetic atmosphere, while respecting the volumes and the history of the building - in this case, Charles Dalmas' majestic Grand Palais in Nice. Following the removal of all the walls and the restructuring of the front steps, natural light was able to flood into the entire apartment, creating a naturally luminous entrance. In the double living room, the high ceilings have been preserved, and the Haussmannian charm has been retained thanks to atypical architectural details such as the cornices, the niche and the molding that covers the mirrors. The kitchen, originally located at the back of the apartment, is now at the heart of it, becoming a real meeting place. A through niche separates the double living room from the entrance, creating two distinct passageways. This space, composed of a subtle combination of orthogonal lines, finds its balance in a blend of powder pink, golden brass and pure white quartz. The round glass table with gilded brass legs becomes a sculptural element around which the kitchen is organized.

All the cupboards are pure white, to merge with the walls of the apartment. The bathrooms are all tiled in rectangular white zellige, with handmade French fittings, fixtures and accessories in golden brass finish warming these spaces.

The master suite, which replaces the former living room, is softened by warm white and solid oak parquet laid straight. The change of zone is marked by a brass rod and a different floor, in this case a marble bâton rompu mosaic distinguishing the arrival in the bathroom. The bathroom has been designed as a cocoon, a haven of softness.
