Haussmannien colorful, total renovation of an apartment, Paris 17th, 180m2.

The first time we entered this apartment, we were seduced, as were the customers, by the extraordinary volumes of the place, the light emanating from the huge windows, the inherent charm of this type of apartment entirely "in their juice". Indeed, the last renovation was several decades ago.

Almost all the non-load-bearing partitions had been knocked down, and all the fixtures and fittings (sanitaryware, tiles, electricity, etc.) had been sent to the dump. Even the heating system could no longer be used...! However, the moldings, fireplaces, splendid parquet flooring and molded pediments were preserved and sublimated by peerless craftsmen.

After a 3-month preparation phase, major work began on the 7-month project. All in all, a 10-month project that restored the apartment to its former glory and gave it a modern touch, just the right amount of space for this family.

The entrance was even bigger at the outset. We decided to make it smaller so that we could create technical rooms such as a laundry room behind it. In this space with its magnificent volumes, the staffer did an extraordinary job, with a cornice made entirely to measure, allowing for dimmable lighting. All the pediments were remade identically using molds to preserve the spirit of the apartment. The carpenter also created all the mouldings and picture rails to show off the wallpaper to its best advantage.

Last but not least, a curtained door hides a studio that's perfectly forgettable. The perspective towards the corridor "night space" is enhanced by these beautiful doors and large bronze handles.
