PASTOR - EARLY MORNING

Architect: PETIT JOUR

Lighting: Nedgis

Photographer: Jean-Baptiste Thiriet

Location: Montreuil

Sophie's 52m2 apartment has been completely renovated. The front walls were insulated from the inside with a natural blend of flax, hemp and absorbent cottons. The location of the various spaces remains unchanged, but their distribution has been made more fluid, and some accesses have been modified, such as the kitchen, which is now accessed from the living room. The choice of materials, furniture and fixtures was motivated by a desire for coherence and a love of the building's period of construction, the 1970s. The concrete load-bearing wall was exposed on the living room side for aesthetic purposes, taking advantage of the existing structure to save materials and resources. The ecru-colored curtain fabrics in the bedroom and living room are made from French wool woven in the Pyrénées-Orientales region. The colored curtains, also in French wool, were dyed by Sophie using the vegetable dye technique. All joinery in three-ply bleached spruce was designed without bottoms to limit the amount of material used in the kitchen and dressing room. Pieces of beech and cedar, turned by Sophie, contribute to the structure of the bookcase. Photo credit: Jean-Baptiste Thiriet
