CAFE CANTINE SOEURS - PARIS BROOKLYN
"Soeurs" is obviously a family story: that of Mathilde and Emilie. Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, this café-cantine is a place in their image: lively and warm!
The kitchen area, open to the dining room, creates a real sense of proximity and highlights their desire to hide nothing from their customers. The initial idea was to recreate the interior of a real home kitchen; this evolved over time, driven by the desire to also draw inspiration from planted patios and sunny terraces!
We then incorporated materials in line with this idea into the project: Zelliges, stone mosaic, and wood of course!
The plants themselves were considered as materials in their own right. The furniture pieces were either custom-made (shelves & benches) or selected for their design, which could be perfectly adapted to outdoor use...and finally, the natural light, which bathes the whole place, did the rest.
