Born in 1970 in Brussels, Alain Gilles began his career in international finance before shifting his focus to industrial design. After completing his studies, he founded his design studio in 2007, where he developed an approach that blends functionality, emotion, and formal exploration.
His work is characterized by clean lines, a strong sense of proportion, and a particular focus on materials. A recipient of numerous international awards, including several Red Dot Awards and the title of Designer of the Year at the Kortrijk Interieur Biennale in 2012, he collaborates with prestigious manufacturers such as Bonaldo, Ligne Roset, Buzzispace, and Vincent Sheppard.
For Hind Rabii, Alain Gilles has designed the Half&Half collection, which explores the dialogue between handcrafted ceramics and mouth-blown glass. This collection perfectly illustrates his style: a minimalist, balanced, and timeless design in which the quality of the materials and light take center stage.
Today, Alain Gilles continues his work from Brussels, creating furniture and lighting collections renowned for their precision, innovation, and understated elegance.
