Born in 1979 in the province of Girona in Spain, the famous designer Carulla wanted to showcase his talent by becoming an outstanding inventor from a very young age.
After graduating from the Polytechnic University of Girona in 2002, designer Andreu Carulla entered the professional world by joining several agencies and design companies. In 2006, he decides to launch his own design studio where he creates eponymous designs. The diversity of products offered allows it to become one of the most versatile Spanish companies.
The key word in designing Carulla’s designs is “handcrafted” because Carulla wants to stay in the timeless trend of time by wanting to create handmade designs in a very elaborate and concise manner. The different sketches of Andreu Carulla's studio are characterized by this artisanal method but a more modern technique.
Andreu and his team have designed more than a hundred projects in different sectors. The conceive design as an echo of the Mediterranean way of life and design various categories of products, from the world of lighting, fashion, interior or even the kitchen for example.
Three years later after the creation of his own studio, Andreu Carulla collaborates with big names such as the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, for whom he decides to create for them "Roca on wheels", a dessert trolley or even "Facetada Lamp ", a pendant lamp with several folding facets during design. He also works with Idée, Ricoh and Marcalan.
Carulla has won numerous awards, notably that of the Good Design Award in 2019 or that of the Hospitality Designer Award rewarding the design of the best accessory in 2018. His work also enabled him to obtain a nomination in 2012 for the best Spanish designer in the following media: Monocle, Surface Magazine, AD, Wallpaper and Elle Deco. All these awards and nominations have enabled him to generate strong notoriety, both for him and for his design studio.
