Benjamin Hopf was born in 1971 in Hamburg, Germany. He studied Design at the Miami International University of Art & Design from 1990-1992. In 1992, he moved back to Germany where he studied Industrial Design at the Polytechnic University in Munich and finished with a MA in Design. In 1996, he worked for Siemens Design (now Design Affairs). In 1998, Benjamin Hopf co-founded the design studio Büro für Form together with Constantin Wortmann. Since 2007, he has run his own office, Studio Benjamin Hopf, focusing on lighting, furniture, as well as interior and product design. Clients include Osram, Serien Lighting, Next, Elmar Flötotto, Habitat, Ycami, Kundalini and many others. Benjamin Hopf’s work has been rewarded with many international design awards. Parallel to his studio, Benjamin Hopf established his own lighting label Formagenda in April 2008. The collection has been expanding continuously ever since.
