Doriana et Massimiliano FUKSAS

Massimiliano and Doriana have been working in tandem for more than 30 years, collaborating with Italian designer lighting brands such as Slamp for whom they designed the magnificent pendant lamp Chantal. Designer and architect Massimiliano Fuksas was born in Rome in 1944. In 1967, he opened his own studio in Rome followed by other studios in Paris and Vienna. He has taught in numerous universities including Staadtliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart, l’école Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, l’Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna, Columbia University in New York and La Sapienza in Rome. In 1998, he won the career award Vitruvio International in Buenos Aires. He also won the Grand Prix d’Architecture Française and was honored by the Académicien National de Saint- Luc and Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française. In 2002, he received an Honorary Fellowship to AIA. He headed the 7th International Architecture Biennale in Venice, “Less Aesthetics, More Ethics”. Doriana O. Mandrelli was born in Rome, obtained an Art History diploma from the University La Sapienza in 1979 and later became a board member for the architecture department at InArch. She also teaches contemporary architecture at Rome’s University La Sapienza. Doriana assisted the director of the 7th International Architecture Biennale in Venice as well as organized certain special sections of the exhibition. In 2002, she received the title of Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française. Since 1985, Doriana has collaborated with Massimiliano Fuksas, helming the cabinet design department. She is always looking out for new materials and techniques for her projects.
