Gabriele Picco, born in Brescia in 1974, is a visual artist and novelist whose varied work crosses the boundaries of painting, drawing and sculpture.
He reinvents the world with visual poetry, where the absurd meets the aesthetic, and where every element, no matter how strange, finds its place in a dreamlike, deeply human universe.
His work has been exhibited in prestigious museums and galleries around the world, including Shanghai's Eutopia, as well as the Tirana, Prague and Milan art biennials. In particular, seventeen of his drawings were shown at MoMA in New York, marking a turning point in his international recognition. In 2021, he took part in the "Imagination is a magic carpet" exhibition at the ATP Finals in Turin, consolidating his status as a key artist.
One of his major works, Reanimation d'une nature morte Oil on canvas, captures his unique approach to the still life, reinterpreted in a playful, surreal way. In an almost ethereal setting painted in pastel tones, a whimsical clown, the symbol of still life, seems reborn, surrounded by antennae and a Moka coffee pot in a visual universe that is both strange and poetic. His work has regularly appeared at auction, notably at Sotheby's, where his painting Ecce Homo was presented in 2005. His work continues to be appreciated by collectors and institutions alike, making him an internationally recognized artist.
