The French designer and architect Jean Nouvel was born in Fumel (Lot-et-Garonne, France) in 1945. He is gratuated in 1972, at Fine Arts of Paris. During his studies, he begins to work as the assistant of Paul Virilio and Claude Parent, then he creates its first enterprise with François Seigneur in 1970.
He co-creates « March 2016» movement. It is a French architectural movement against the Athens charter. In 1977, he also co-creates the union architecture. This union contributes to organise the contest of Paris halls. Then, in 1981, he creates the Architecture Biennale for Biennale Paris. Then, he became laureate of the competition of the Institute of the Arab world, launched by François Mitterrand.
He continues to create agencies whose Jean Nouvel & Associés with Jean-Marc Ibos, Myrto Vitart, Emmanuel Blamont (1984 à 1989), JNEC with Emmanuel Cattani (1989-1994) and then in 1994, he creates Jean Nouvel workshop.

Among all these international and original projects, he designs : he Cartier Foundation in Paris (1994), the Euralille Shopping Mall in Lille (1995), the Convention and Cultural Centre in Lucerne (1998), the Research and Development Centre of Brembo SPA in Bergamo (2001-7), the Musée of Quai Branly, Paris (2006), 100 11th Avenue New York, NY (2006).

Jean Nouvel draws modern lighting, like the Equilibrist lamp for the Italian and recognized house Artemide.

Jean Nouvel, known around the world, has received many prizes, like the Pritzker price(2008), the Wolf Foundation Prize in Arts (2005), and the officer of the Honor Legion (2010).
