Jonas Wagell is a Swedish architect and designer born in 1973. He received training in graphic design, communication, furniture design and architecture and went to prestigious schools like Konstfack University College of Arts and Crafts and Berghs School of Communication in the city of Stockholm, as well as Parsons School of Design in New York.
He established Studio JWDA in 2008 in a former car repair shop in Stockholm's Old Town. His collaborations range from Scandinavia to China via Italy and North America. The studio also sometimes consults on art direction and design.
Wagell is known for its modern design with soft, minimalist forms and a warm, welcoming expression. His interests in graphic design, printing and typography have undoubtedly strongly inspired his current work, characterized by a simplistic and expressive graphic language.
Today, the JWDA studio collaborates with Scandinavian companies such as Menu, Normann Copenhagen and Muuto, but also with Design Within Reach in the United States, Tacchini in Italy and Zaozuo in China.
