A member of the Italian-American Scarpulla family, Maria Scarpulla is a designer and painter who continues the artistic lineage of her ancestors.

Of Italian origin, having spent her childhood in the United States, she now resides in Belgium where she has opened her design studio.
These different inspirations can be found in her creations which mix minimalism and poetry. She develops different types of furniture such as tables and lights. She is also supported by Jori Hernalsteen with whom she shares her studio.

Her work is characterized by graphic models associated with monochrome colors. Her work has earned her an award at the 2013 Milan Designweek, for example.

Today, she also works in partnership with the Belgian lighting house Valerie Objects.

"Maria Scarpulla's creations are always revisited. Being both utilitarian and a work of art, there's always something that defies basic logic."
