A Danish graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Design in "Furniture & Spatial Design", Nina Bruun founded her own multidisciplinary studio in Copenhagen in 2016. A designer, consultant and trend expert in her own right, she collaborates with the Made by Hand brand, notably on the Pepo and Papier collections, which embody her poetic approach to materials and light.
Nina Bruun places at the heart of her work the harmonious opposition between sculptural form and functional simplicity. In the Pepo collection, she revisits the blown-glass lamp, inspired by the silhouette of the gourd: undulating lines, an iconic stem and a repetitive motif create a lamp that is as decorative as it is technical. With the Papier collection, she explores the poetry of rice paper: light is diffused through superimposed curves, light and enveloping, transforming a humble material into a luminous object with a strong identity. Her sensitivity to materials - glass, paper, metal - and her taste for organic forms make her lamps stand out as decorative elements in their own right, equally at home in a contemporary living room or a high-end commercial space.
Drawing on her in-depth knowledge of color, design and object morphology, Nina Bruun creates lasting pieces, imbued with character and precision. Her work has won a Red Dot Design Award, and some of her pieces are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
